Janie
Meneely & Friends
to Kick Off Annapolis Maritime Museums
Free
Brown-Bag Lunch-Time concerts
in Eastport, July 11
Eastern
Shore singer/songwriter Janie Meneely will perform original songs
and tell tall tales of the Chesapeake Bay at a free lunchtime concert
on the banks of Back Creek in Eastport on Wednesday, July 11, from
12:15 to 1 p.m.
The
informal concert will be the first of a biweekly series sponsored
by the Annapolis Maritime Museum and will be set along the newly
landscaped shoreline of the grounds of the Barge House on Bayshore
Drive behind McNasbys Oyster House at the Back Creek end of
Second Street in Eastport.
"Bring
you lunch, sit at the picnic tables under the shade of a tree, watch
the boats come in and out of the creek, and listen to some wonderful
music," invited museum board chairman Peg Wallace. "If
you like what you see and hear, you can leave a small donation for
the museum."
Janie
Meneely founded the popular Chesapeake Bay folk group, Crab Alley,
in 1984, and has recently produced her first solo album of original
songs inspired by the Bay. Shell be joined by longtime pal,
Jefferson Holland. Jeff and Kevin Brooks, also known as Them
Eastport Oyster Boys, will perform at the second concert on
Wednesday, July 25. Future dates are every other Wednesday through
September.
Directions:
From downtown Annapolis, drive across the Eastport Spa Creek Bridge,
turn left at the Shell Station onto Severn Avenue, turn right onto
Second Street, drive all the way to the end. Park near the McNasbys
Oyster House and walk around to the back.
