Acting
Museum Director Jeff Holland opened the ceremony and introduced
Historian Sherri Marsh (right) who read a summary of her research
on the history of the Peg Wallace and similar draketail
boats.
Read
her summary.

| The
Peg Wallace was painstakingly restored by Annapolis resident Reid
Bandy (far right, above), who donated the boat to the museum. He is
holding a proclamation from Ellen O. Moyer, Mayor of Annapolis. In
appreciation for his skills as a shipwright as applied to this historical
vessel and his generosity in donating her to the musuem, the Mayor
proclaimed Oct. 26 Reid Bandy Day. |

Anne
Arundel County Executive Janet Owens (left) presented Mr. Bandy
with a citation and State Delegate Richard D'Amato (right) read
words of praise for Mr. Bandy's work and generosity as well.

Peg
Wallce, Chair of the Museum's Board of Trustees, and founder, presented
Mr. Bandy with a commemorative plaque (far left). He presented her
with the title to the Peg Wallace, much to Ms. Wallace's
delight.

Reverend
William Peters (above) offered a blessing for the Peg Wallace
and for the people and vessels who make their living on the water
and for the memory of those who have done so in the past.
|
|
Then
it was time to toast the Peg Wallace and sprinkle champagne
on her bow (above) for good luck. Pictured at left are Mrs. Owens,
Mr. Bandy, Ms. Wallace, and Mr. D'Amato.

for just one more champagne toast before those in attendance were
treated to short rides in Back Creek aboard the Peg Wallace, courtesy
