McNasbys
Seafood Take-out Restaurant to Reopen
Under New Management
The
popular seafood take-out restaurant at the old McNasbys oyster
packing house in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis is about
to reopen after being closed for nearly two years. The Annapolis
Maritime Museum leased the building from the City of Annapolis in
March, and subleased the restaurant portion of the property to John
Brock, owner of Davis Pub in Eastport and Heroes Restaurant
in West Annapolis. There will be a grand opening celebration on
Tuesday, June 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The
new restaurant will be called the Maritime Café at McNasbys.
"Well
provide good seafood, with crab cakes, steamed mussels and shrimp,
and steamed hard crabs that the whole family can enjoy," John
says. "And were helping to get the museums name
out there as well. This is a family-friendly, low-cost, big-value
type of restaurant. Well have a special kids menu and
wonderful deli sandwiches, too."
Not
to mention the best view in town, since diners can carry their meals
out to picnic tables on the deck overlooking Back Creek and watch
the boats go by.
"Our
lease with the City of Annapolis for the use of the McNasby building
mandated that we provide a seafood service for the community,"
explains museum founder and board president Peg Wallace. "We
were so pleased when John Brock stepped forward and offered his
expertise. He and his crew have done an incredible job over the
last few weeks. The place looks great and I cant wait to try
the crab cakes!"
From
Annapolis City Dock, cross the Spa Creek Bridge to Eastport, turn
left at the second light onto Chesapeake Avenue, turn right onto
Second Street, and stop before driving into Back Creek. McNasbys
is the building on the left.
