The friends of the Annapolis Maritime Museum is a group of young professionals dedicated to celebrating the maritime heritage of Annapolis and the neighboring Chesapeake Bay. In the true maritime sprit, the group combines service to the community with fun, sponsoring a variety of educational and social activities for its members.
Social Events
friends hosts a variety of different social events throughout the year, including a winter oyster roast — this year on January 18 (see below) — and spring BBQ. We will be hosting a monthly happy hours at the Boatyard Bar and Grill, Fourth Street at Severn Avenue, in Annapolis.
Community Service
friends supports the service mission of the Annapolis Maritime Museum through community clean-ups, volunteering to help with educational activities, and supporting all AMM events.
About AMM
The Annapolis Maritime Museum strives to build pride in the region’s community, environment, residents and visitors by making its maritime heritage come alive for young and old. The Museum is currently renovating its home at McNasby’s, the last remaining oyster packing plant in the area. The Museum’s Bay Experience Center will be a place where exhibits emphasize involvement, excitement, inspiration, and intellectual reward for the entire community.

Second Annual friends of AMM Bonfire and Oyster Roast was held on Friday, January 17, at the AMM Beach (Back Creek at Second Street) . Some 200 people joined the friends of AMM for this fun event on the beach. Fresh Chesapeake Bay Oysters — raw and roasted — were enjoyed by all, donated by the Oyster Recovery Partnership and there was a lively oyster shucking contest! The featured raffle item was a sailing cruising package aboard the Schooner Woodwind. | flyer
