In maritime tradition, if you were among the crew of a ship at her launch, you were considered a "Plank Owner" of that ship. Now you can become a plank owner of the Annapolis Maritime Museum by having your name -- or the name of your company, your boat, or your anniversary or any event you want to commemorate -- carved in a plank on the main deck and piers at the historic McNasby Oyster Company building.
Planks on the finger piers, each about six feet long, will have a name carved in letters 2 1/2" high for $750. Names can be carved in the longer planks on the main deck in letters 1 1/4" high at only $10 for each character, with a 10-character minimum. Your contribution is 100% tax-deductible. The names will last as long as the new red cedar planks will last - about a decade.

Wanted: Plank Program Manager
If you've got a background in marketing and sales, you can help the Museum raise funds through the Planks for the Memories program. We need to design and launch a marketing program to sell these custom-engraved planks on the Museum docks. This program has fantastic potential, but we need your help to move it forward. Contact Jeff Holland for more information, 410-295-0104 or director@amaritime.org.
