Calling All Volunteers!
Let's Do a Little MuseumScape on GreenScape Day -
Saturday, April 13, 2002, 9 a.m.

We need some help in the big clean-up of McNasby's...we've got a dumpster to put all the debris in. If it rains, we'll do clean-up instead of painting. If the weather's good, we'll paint too. Lots of hands means the job will be done quickly...and it will be fun. Questions? Contact Bill O'Gara.

Schooner Sultana in Annapolis

The Sultana is one of the earliest examples of schooner building in North America and was the smallest schooner ever to be registered on the Royal Navy Lists. As a vessel of mixed American and British heritage, Sultana has roots on both sides of the Atlantic and was on the scene when the American colonists were taking their first substantial steps towards independence. This replica vessel was launched this summer and is touring the Chesapeake this summer promoting its educational programs.

We're Changing Our Name and Our Focus

The Barge House Museum has changed its name to the Annapolis Maritime Museum!

We have been heading in this direction for some time, as our research continued to show the maritime impact on our Eastport history and the people who lived here. With a little help from a consultant, we realized that this was where we wanted to go, and this change will fill the city's need for a maritime museum.

We continue to enjoy nonprofit status, as that transferred to our new name, and we are off and running on our new and exciting project.

In January we installed a Board of Trustees who will help guide us in this new direction, and find funds for permanent staff and expansion into the McNasby building.

Now, more than ever, we need the community's help and support.
